Home Again Microchip Enrollment (Microchip after Adoption)

Follow

In some cases, your organisation may require all canines & felines to be chipped, however, some animals may be adopted and then microchipped afterwards. The adoption, therefore, must be sent to Home Again after the chip is entered, not during the adoption.

These are the steps to take in this instance.

Initial Setup of System

  1. Email your Shelter Buddy support representative to enable the option “Microchip after adoption”.

Processing The Adoption

  1. Follow the standard steps to navigate to the adoption screen.
  2. If the animal type selected is flagged as “Sometimes send to HA” and the microchip is NOT entered the following will happen:
    • A Prompt will display asking “This pet does not have a microchip entered, this pet will NOT be sent to Home Again. Would you like to…”
    • The prompt will then have the following options:
      • “Oops, this pet should have a microchip number.” Clicking this will close the prompt and the microchip will need to be entered immediately. If you try to finalize the adoption without the microchip, then the same prompt will display again.
      • “This pet will be microchipped after adoption”. This option will be dimmed in colour to attempt to promote the first option of entering a microchip. If this option is selected then the adoption will be processed without the HA required fields and the animal is not sent to HA.
      • If another option is ticked such as “The owner does not want to microchip this pet”, then this option will also be displayed so that the user can flag the reason why they are not enrolling for each pet.

Microchipping The Pet After The Adoption

  1. Search for the adopted animal and load the Animal Details page
  2. If the pet has not yet been sent to HA and it is flagged as a “send later” reason, then an unobtrusive reminder will show in a notification panel at the top of the screen “This pet is still waiting to send to Home Again”.
  3. Check that the following criterion is met:
    • The pet has an adopted status
    • The pet does not have a microchip
    • The pets last adoption the user selected to “not send to HA”
    • The pets last adoption was not sent to Home Again already (this is to prevent a possible issue of sending duplicate enrollments)
    • And the user enters a microchip
  4. You will then be prompted: “This pet has been adopted but not sent to HA, would you like to send this pet as an enrollment now?”.
    • Click “yes” then HA required fields are mandatory and the pet is updated first and then sent to Home Again.
    • Click "no" the enrollment is never sent and the pet is updated without the HA required fields.
