Bonded Animals

Follow

This procedure allows two or more animal files to be linked so notification appears whenever the animal page is opened to draw attention to the bond and display information on each linked animal. This is not for use to link litters, but rather for animals that have a close relationship even though they may not be related.

  1. Search for the animal.
  2. On the Edit Animal Details page in the Animal Menu, click on the Bonded Animals link.
  3. Click on the Add Relationship link.  An Animal Search page will display.
    • Animal Search: Enter specific details of the Animal record that is to be linked OR enter the Animal ID Number.
    • Click Search.
  4. The Animal Search Results page will display.
  5. Click the Select Animal link listed with the correct Animal details.
  6. The Relationship details page will display.
    • The details to the Left belong to the Animal page that the Relationship link was accessed from.  The details on the Right are the details of the Animal to be linked.  The Relationship field will identify the relationship the Animal on the Left has to the Animal on the Right.
  7. Relationship: Click on the down arrow to select the relationship the Animal on the Left has with the Animal on the Right.  In the example above the relationship might be Sibling.
  8. Click Add Relationship.

If linked successfully, a yellow banner will appear across the top of the page to notify the user there is a Bonded Animal to the one they are viewing, and also making note of the Animal ID number for the bonded animal for quick reference. The banner will slowly fade away, but if preferred we do have a custom setting available that keeps the banner open as long as the file is open.

Contact support@shelterbuddy.com if you would like to enable this option.

NOTE: if you have a Shelter Buddy public site, the Bonded Animals information will show here too.
