Tracking Spay/Neuter Surgeries (Desexing)

Follow

The following reports are designed to track spay/neuter (desexing) surgeries performed by your organisation:

Report 610 Spay/Neuter Statistics: this statistical report counts female and male surgeries performed for selected Animal Types within a date-range.

Report 676 Spay/Neuter Detail List: this is the detailed companion report for 610 and operates the same way.

Report 6 Spay/Neuter Report: this detailed report shows animals that had surgery within the specified date range. It can also be filtered by Clinic entered on the Medical Notes page.

Report 722 Animals Vaccinated or Desexed by Internal/External Sources: This report is looking for animals that have either a Vet Treatment Date or Desex (Spay/Neuter) Date that falls within the date range selected.

NOTE: for any of these reports to work, the surgery must be recorded as follows:

  1. From the Animal Details page, click the Medical Notes link in the Animal Menu.
  2. Locate the field Date Desexed or Date Spayed/Neutered (as labelled on your site)
  3. Click the calendar icon to select a date.
  4. Locate the Desexed By Licenced Vet (alternately Spayed/Neutered by Licensed Vet) drop down.
  5. Click the down arrow to select the Veterinary Surgeon who performed the surgery.
    • If you have set up a vet signature for this vet, it will apply on the relevant certificate.
  6. If the animal has stitches/sutures that require removal, locate the Stitches Removal/Wound Recheck Date field. Click the calendar icon to set a date.
  7. If you need to follow animals from different groups (e.g. if the shelter pays for some surgeries, but an external authority pays for others), you can use the Origin field, found at the top right of the Medical Notes Page
    • Options for the Origin field can be set up via Administration Edit Drop Down Lists > Origins. Use the Add option for a new item.
  8. Click Update Details to save.

This information can also be entered via the Costed Clinic Consult page (the date the consult is finalised is applied as the date of surgery) and via the bulk updating menu

If the animal was desexed/spayed/neutered prior to entering care, the Previously Desexed/Previously Spayed/Neutered box should be marked. The procedure for tracking these animals can be found here
