Update Animal Types for Shelter Animals Count Reporting

Follow

This feature sets Animal Types so they are grouped in a way that is recognised by the Shelter Animal Count for reporting purposes.

The Shelter Animal Count recognises the following animal groups: canines, felines, rabbits, birds, small mammals, equines, reptiles & amphibians, farm animals

These don't necessarily line up neatly with Shelter Buddy equivalents so we have created a tool that allows you to map them manually, as not every site utilises every Animal Type and some sites uses Type differently to others.

For your convenience, we have preset the most obvious ones:

  • Types Dog /Puppy → Canine

  • Types Cat / Kitten → Feline

  • Any Type that has the word "Bird" → Bird

  • Any Type that has the word "Rabbit" → Rabbit

  • Any Type that has the word “Reptile” → Reptile & Amphibian

  • Any Type that has the word “Horse” → Equine

  • Any animal with a Class of "Livestock" → Farm Animal

  • Rodent/Guinea Pig/Ferret → Small Mammal
