This is a list of all sources available to Shelter Buddy system users and what the purpose of each source is.

Abandoned | Intake | Created to cater to Canadian laws, this status is for animals that were known to be abandoned by their owner (willingly left behind) as in Canada, these animals have different hold times to normal strays or surrenders. |
ACO - Citation | Information | A record of an animal taken so it can be included in a citation for Animal Control purposes |
ACO - DOA | Intake | Deceased on Arrival, in by Animal Control Officer |
ACO - Euthanasia Request | Intake | Animal brought into care specifically for owner requested euthanasia by Animal Control Officer. |
ACO - Impound | Intake | An animal impounded by Animal Control Officer |
ACO - Owner Surrender | Intake | An animal where custody of the animal is transferred from the owner/legal guardian to the oranisation via the intervention of an Animal Control Officer for the purpose of possible rehoming |
Agency | Intake | Variously described depending on local settings, indicates an animal brought into care by a contracted agency/council/authority |
Ambulance | Intake | An animal brought in by a mobile rescue service as an act of charity in the interest of Animal Welfare |
Ambulance - Euthanasia Request | Intake | An animal brought in by a mobile rescue service at the request of the owner for the purpose of euthanasia only where no other reason for collection exists. |
Ambulance - Owner Surrender | Intake | An animal collected from legal owner/guardian and transported to care by mobile rescue service because it is no longer wanted by the owner but otherwise potentially rehomeable. |
Ambulance - Wildlife | Intake | A wild/undomesticated/native animal brought in by mobile rescue service as an act of charity in the interest of Animal Welfare |
Animal Training | Information | A record of an animal's details for the purpose of class schedules for the new Animal Training module |
API Entry | Used when an API is present and information has been imported via API for a site. Depending on import settings, may be Information or Intake. Not available except via API. | |
Bequest | Information | A record of an animal bequested to the shelter by owner/guardian, where the animal remains in the care of the owner/guardian |
Bequest in Shelter | Information | An animal bequested to the shelter by owner/guardian who has entered shelter care |
Boarding | Information | A record of an animal for the purposes of the commercial Boarding module |
Clinic | Information | A record of an owned animal participating in clinic services |
Community Animal - Field Services | Intake | For animals participating in a Spay/Neuter/Release type of scenario, where the site would like them to be counted separately from regular strays. These animals are those brought in from the field by officers. |
Community Animal - General Public | Intake | For animals participating in a Spay/Neuter/Release type of scenario, where the site would like them to be counted separately from regular strays. These animals are those presented to the organisation by members of the general public. |
Community Animal - Program | Intake | Used for animals participating in a Spay/Neuter/Release type of scenario, where the site would like them to be counted separately from regular strays but where the animals are participants in a specific program, e.g. sponsored SNR. |
Cruelty Case Offspring | Intake | An animal born in care to a mother who is linked to a cruelty investigation |
Data Import | Intake | An animal imported from a prior database where no source mapping could be performed. Not available except via Data Import. |
Dispatch Information | Information | An animal linked to a Dispatch job as a record only |

DOA - Humane Officer Seized | Intake | Deceased on Arrival, in as result of Dispatch job assigned to Humane Officer, where ownership of animal is known but owner has not consented to remains being removed from their property |
DOA - Humane Officer Surrendered | Intake | Deceased on Arrival, in as result of Dispatch job assigned to Humane Officer, where ownership of animal is known and owner has consented to remains being removed from their property |
DOA - Owner Surrender | Intake | Deceased on Arrival, in by legal owner or guardian of animal for disposal |
DOA - Routine Inspection | Intake | Deceased on Arrival as result from routine inspection from Dispatch (i.e. no specific call to action) |
DOA - Stray | Intake | Deceased on Arrival where ownership of animal is undetermined |
DOA - Wildlife | Intake | Deceased on Arrival for wild (e.g. native, undomesticated) animals only |
Dog Obedience | Information | A record of an animal's details for the purpose of class schedules for the old (deprecated) Dog Obedience module |
Emergency Boarding | Intake | An animal that has entered care as part of a program that caters to domestic emergency situations, e.g. domestic violence, house fires etc. |
Euthanasia Request | Intake | An animal that has been surrendered to the organisation by the owner/guardian for the express purpose of euthanasia |
Euthanasia Request w/Consent to Rehome | Intake | An animal that has been surrendered to the organisation by the owner/guardian with permission to either Euthanise or Rehome as the organisation determines appropriate |
Evacuation | Intake | Used to record animals taken in as part of a large-scale evacuation from another agency/shelter/rescue. Only available via the Emergency Evacuation PC |
Evacuation Outgoing | Intake | Used to record animals that are part of a large-scale evacuation. Only available via the Emergency Evacuation PC |
External Rabies | Information | Used to record animals issued a Rabies vaccination as part of a program where the animal is not in care and its only purpose was the vaccination |
Foster Offspring | Intake | An animal born while the mother is in care with a Foster home |
Found | Information | An animal in the community reported by a member of the public where the animal's location is known, but the owner's identity is unknown |
Humane Officer | Intake | An animal brought into care as the result of Dispatch job assigned to Humane Officer, where ownership of animal is undetermined |
Humane Officer - Euthanasia Request | Intake | An animal brought into care as the result of Dispatch job assigned to Humane Officer, where ownership of animal is known and owner has consented to immediate euthanasia |
Humane Officer - Seized | Intake | An animal brought into care as the result of Dispatch job assigned to Humane Officer, where ownership of animal is known but owner has not consented to the animal being removed from their property |
Humane Officer - Surrendered | Intake | An animal brought into care as the result of Dispatch job assigned to Humane Officer, where ownership of animal is known and owner has consented to the animal being removed from their property for possible rehoming |
Identification & Services | Information | A record of an animal created expressly for the purpose of recording some form of identification or to assign a service. |
License | Information | Variously described depending on local settings, indicates the record of an animal being licensed/registered on behalf of an agency/council/authority by the organisation or user |
Lost | Information | An animal reported by a member of the public as belonging to them, but the animal's current whereabouts are unknown |
Microchip | Information | A record of an animal created expressly for a microchip drive - deprecated, usually part of data import |
Owner Surrender | Intake | An animal where custody of the animal is transferred from the original legal owner/guardian to the organisation for the purpose of possible rehoming |
Owner Surrender - Good Samaritan | Intake | An animal surrendered by a legal owner/guardian who only acquired the animal a short time previously and only to rescue it from an unhappy/unhealthy situation and with the intention of transferring custody to the organisation at the earliest opportunity |
Pending Medical Evaluation | Intake | A variation on Euthanasia Request w/Consent to Rehome whereby the decision to go one way or another is entirely at the discretion of the organisation once a medical evaluation has taken place |
Returns | Intake | Indicates an animal previously adopted from the organisation (usually within a specific time frame) that has been returned to the organisation by the adopter for re-processing (e.g. adoption, euthanasia) |
Routine Inspection | Intake | An animal brought into care whereby no specific call to action was given but as a result of routine actions, usually by an Animal Control or Humane officer |
Shelter Offspring | Intake | An animal born to a mother while in shelter care |
Staff | Information | A record of staff animals, specifically if programs exist for staff that offer benefits for their pets |
Stray | Intake | An animal brought into shelter care by a person who is not the owner or guardian of the animal, and without the owner/guardian's knowledge or consent, usually because the animal was at large |
Transfer In | Intake | An animal entering care via an outside shelter/rescue/agency (non-contracted) |
Wildlife | Intake | An animal entering shelter care that is wild/native/undomesticated |
